HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CLARA!
As some of my more devoted followers may know, Clara Schumann is one of my idols. Her story really got me into music history, and inspired the plot of a book I wrote (as well as all the names…I’m very original). She immortalized her husband’s music, killed stereotypes of women in music, guided her children with honesty and compassion (I love the story of Felix Schumann, personally), and embodied an incredible strength of character, willpower, and familial love that I think changed music for the better.
Here’s to you, Clara Schumann.
